The phrase Black Girl Magic has been used quite often in today's pop culture, but it is an ideal that spans generations.
The magic comes forth in the many ways a Black woman conjures success in spite of the odds.
I've seen this magic in my grandmother; my namesake. A homemaker, void of college education, but a financial whiz, businesswoman, and property owner nonetheless. My mother, is an educator, realtor, interior designer, seamstress, but mostly a strong single parent who poured and continues to pour into my spirit. My family has produced several successful women, members of society. Doctors, nurses, attorneys, educators, on-air personalities, and of course entrepreneurs.
I have grown and surrounded myself with women who inspire, create, dominate, and spread their magic out into the world. I chose to showcase the Inaugural collection from About Face Beauty, Black Girl Magic, as a tribute to every Black woman who has persevered and triumphed.
The shades Midnight, Vision, Honour, Street Smarts, Queenie, and Iconic reflect attributes that are a part of the collective that is the magic of the Black Woman.
